Šimon Tóth (*1997, Košice)
Graduate of Bachelor’s degree at the Department of Painting, Academy of Arts in Banská Bystrica, Studio STARTUP, doc. Mgr. Jan Triaška, ArtD.
Using artistic means alone, he is primarily concerned with the theme of the antinature of memory, where he focuses on the exploration of memory, which he does not see as a static part of memory, but rather as a flexible activity changing into new contexts. He focuses on the reduction or transformation of the original visual, which here represents the very definition of memory. In its true essence, he sees it in the character of its forgetfulness, which, with the passage of time, becomes unperceived and unnecessary. He also works with the pictorial reproduction of fairy tales, whose role consists in omitting all the visual signs and shapes that characterize the visual fairy tale. It notices the limits of the image, working with the absence of content, the limit of the depicted, or the literal omission.
